Connecting WinCC to Advantech PCI I/O Card (such az PCI 1713)

mtb Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	I want to use winCC as Hmi & control for advantech PCI I/O card(such az PCI 1713) but the card has n't driver for wincc or OPC server; instead it has some DLL files for working with VB & activeX controls in VB studio. also some C headers for C programing. is there any way to access the card I/O with wincc? (may be through VB program which update wincc database cyclicaly?) thanx.

You could write an ActiveX control, that reads and writes the data from the I/O card and provide this data on the ActiveX interface of this control. Then you can include this ActiveX control to your WinCC and access the I/O data via the ActiveX interface. I think this should work...

(i take a look at wincc manuals, but it's all about communication with PLC & siemens products) tanx

I'm not a WinCC expert, so I don't know if there is a way to do that directly in WinCC. You should ask this question in the SIMATIC HMI Human Machine Interface conference.

I know, that there are some ActiveX components, that don't work with WinCC (but I don't know why - try to ask this in the SIMATIC HMI Human Machine Interface conference). If you are looking for ActiveX controls for serial connectsions you should try Google: http://www.google.de/search?q=activex+serial+connection I also found this article: Serial Communications with ActiveX at www.codeguru.com.
