Rack PC840 Start slowing down

alibaba Posts: 90 Rating: (1)	Hi there, We are having a Simatic Rack 840 having the following: - Win2k Sp4. - Simatic WinCC V5.1 Sp2. - Step 7 V5.1 - no any PCI cards installed - no any anti-virus running - is connected to 2xclient PCs. What happen is from time to time the PC starts to be slow and once you click CTRL+ALT+DEL -->process of SYSTEM is on 100%. We run the PC alsowithoutWinCC and also from time-time the PC become slow and system occupy 100%. Please Advice!! Regards, Ali Magboul[:xxx:]

Your installed SIMATIC Software is together not compatible. Basicly: STEP 7 V5.1 is not compatible under Windows 2000 SP4, you need for this operating system V5.1 SP6 at least. But this is not enough, if you use also WinCC V5.1 SP2. Under Windows 2000 SP4 you have to install the hotfix KB828741 which do you can find of the homepage of Microsoft. For WinCC V5.1 SP2 under Windows 2000 SP4 you need the STEP 7 Version V5.2 SP1 at least, V5.3 SP2 or V5.3 SP3. The actual STEP 7 software is V5.4. With best regards Cicero

Consider the informations of the readme file by 3.2 Memory Requirements. Is there a virus scanner which is active during you work with STEP 7? We recommend to deactivate the virus scanner if you work with STEP 7. We recommend also to save your projects with the function "Save as..." together with the option "With Reorganisation (slowly)". Please see also our FAQ in this regards: "Notes on Optimizing Performance", which do you will find by the entry id: 20440472. Check also the requirements in refer to the installed SIMATIC software, whether your PC is suitable for these versions.
