Alarm acknowledgement with WinCC Professional V11

coop250 Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Dear all, I have a project requiring alarms to be displayed on several MP377 panels at the same time, and each mustdisplay as being acknowledged on all of the panels once they are individually acknowledged from any one panel. Having made some tests using the HMI alarms in WinCC and experimenting with 'ackowledgement by HMI' and 'ackowledgement by PLC' I am unsure of the difference and which one I need to enable the functionality I have mentioned above. The alarms currently trigger correctly - but they only show as being acknowledged on the particular panel where they have been acknowledged from, instead of all of them. Or do I need to make the alarms using the PLC blocks in Step 7 instead? Just the simplest way to do this is all that is required. I am using Portal for both Step 7 and WinCC. I am still trying to understand the difference between the S7 alarm blocks (eg. alarm 8, alarm 8p etc) and the straightforward bit triggering method like I'm using right now. Do you or anyone else know, in plain english, in what circumstances you would choose to use the S7 alarm blocks? There is nothing in the manual to instruct the user in the choice.
