STARTER connection issues

SH1981 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi i'm on an installation and they are having troubles which involves me looking into one of their drives and setting up a trace. I'm using their laptop which has the project for Starter on it. When I connect up I cant get online with the drives. When I look for accessible nodes it shows up all the drives I expect to see and they all have the address that they are also assigned in the project. I think I may know what the error is, I believe their laptop has been for repair and upon re-image Simatic manager and S7 has been lost. Below is a screen shot of what I see. Can anyone confirm if this is because of what I suspect and the connection issues is beacuse the project doesnt know what the drives actaully are? Any help much appreciated. Graeme Platinum Member Joined: 6/4/2008 Last visit: 11/12/2024 Posts: 1505 Rating: (325)	Hi Simon, Starter should know what the drives are assuming you have the correct up to date SSP's (Updates) I would attempt to create a fresh project, connect to one of the drives that you know the IP address off and see if you can then connect to that single drive. Also, you don't mention what the drives actually are . . . G120's perhaps? If it connects ok, then clearly Starter can identify the drives. Then you can start to consider what the project routing issues may be. Given the number of drives shown, I guess the project will be too big to post here. It would have been nice to see a screenshot of the hardware config, but if SimMan is not installed that probably won't be possible. Regards, Graeme

I can email it to you if you would like to take a look? Also I have another laptop which has Simatic Manager on so I could get a hardware config through that.

I did manage to get connected to the devices though. Someone had chnage the last prefix of the fixed IP to 104 and I found it needed to be 99. Chnaged this and all sorted. I do have another issue now though. Prviously when I have used starter it has been to monitor some trends on a AC drive. The issue I have is that I'm looking at a rectifier (or feeder) for a DC bus now and there doesnt seem to be a 'trace' function. Do you know if this is simply not possible with rectifiers or am I missing something somewhere? Regards, Simon

If the Infeed/Rectifier is a Sinamics Rectifier and it is >= 16kW Smart Line Module, then you can trace parameters as per any Sinamics drive, however, if the Infeed is the non-drive-Cliq variety, the best you can hope for is to trace the DC Volts presented to the drive.
