IM153-2 FDC 157 Step 7 Hardware Config

rollingclone Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	How do you configure the DP/PA Link and Coupler with a S7-300 via Hardware Config in Step 7. I need to keep the 1.5mbs and add many PA devices. The manual shows it dropping in the rack next to the IM 153-2, a FDC 157-0. However, I cannot do that via the HDW Config in Step7. I have an S7 315. 153-2 BA010XB0 157-0 AC830XA0 I have the pdf from Siemens. I need to know how it looks in the config. Do you add a rail, a PS then the 153-2 then the 157 for the PA network? Where is that expalined? The graphic in the manual shows S7-400 only as well as the FDC connecting to the PA mastersystem along with the devices. Is that it? I wouold rather correct graphical repspresentation. Thanks,

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 11/14/2024 Posts: 12294 Rating: (2691)	Hello Rollingclone; To setup PA slaves on a DP/PA link, you have to create a single gsd file that will include all the PA instruments on that link (no matter how many couplers are on the same link). Siemens provides a tool for that: gsdtool. You can find it on the following link, along with instructions: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/26562190 Note that for gsdtool to work, you need to install the latest java compiler for your version of Windows (see the instructions in the link provided), Also note the limitations that a single DP slave must adhere to, number of input data, output data and parameter data. If you exceed any of them, the gsdtool will warn you and stop the process. Once you have created the new gsd file for your PA application using gsdtool, install it in ypour Profibus configurator as you would any new gsd file, and use it to insert a DP/PA link in your configuration. rollingclone Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Thanks for the help. I did call the tech support line at Siemens and they told me the Coupler sits on the PA network. Looks goofy but works. They said I did not require the GSD tool, which once getting into it looked to mevery simple. Thanks.
