S7-300 PG/PC USB connection

MOS Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hi, I am havingtroubles trying to connect via USB a S7-300 with a PG (standard PC with USB port). I amusing Step7 V5.3 and I properly installed the software driver for the PC Adapter interface 6ES7972-0CB20-0XA0 (intended for S7-300). The S7-300 has no problem, as I can load the hardware configuration using a CP5611 board. The USB port has no problem, as I used to connect my pendrive there. The PG/PC USB interface has its 3 green lights on, inidcating no communication problem. But I cannot load the hardware configuration: a message "33:16945 Online: bus defectuso" appears. I configured the PG/PC for MPI address 1, address 2 for the CPU, address 3 for the ethernet module (as it is shown in the attached jpg file). Can anyone tell me what is wrong?? It's important that on the entire network the same parameters are used for MPI, the baudrate and the HSA (highest station address) Best regards, Wizard

MOS Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Of course I set up the same communication baud rate on the CPU and the USB interface.... please see the attached document. I really don't know what is wrong, even I re-formatted the PC, installed again the Step 7 and so on... Attachment pcadapter.pdf (940 Downloads)

trainee Posts: 40 Rating: (1)	I had the same problem couple off months ago, somebody else with a serial connection had to do the first configuration for me and then I could work with it. But what if you're all alone in the field and no other PG/PC??? Somebody told there is a trick you can do so you can connect with a fresh from the box PLC with an USB to MPI connection. grtz FKIL

MOS Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I solved the problem in a non conventional way. I had to use a Profibus connector with MPI connection on the MPI port of the CPU and then connect the MPI cable of the USB adapter on it. It has been work fine since then. I think there is some electrical problem with the MPI side of the USB adapter. Best regards, Manuel
