Chook Experienced Member Joined: 6/13/2006 Last visit: 9/21/2023 Posts: 201 Rating: (8)	Dear All, Our customer has a newPG but it doesn't boot properly into windows XP and reboot when error message appears( Customer bought from last 5 months) System error message " When trying to update a password, this return status indicated the value provided as the current password is not correct " How can we solve this problems ? If the window has to be reinstalled how can we get back the simatic licence? Please find a photo in the attached Please help help urgently Attachment PG.jpg (510 Downloads)

Bilal Moolla Posts: 133 Rating: (9)	Hi Chook It sounds to me that you may have a virus called Lsass.exe. Check out this link : http://www.askdavetaylor.com/lsassexe_system_error_every_time_i_boot_windows.html Windows has a file called isass.exe (With a Capital "I" it looks like this Isass.exe) Now this virus Lsass.exe (Looks the same small letter "L" looks like this lsass.exe) There is a virus scanner called sasser that works well with this virus. For this you need the Certificate of License (CoL) - as this is the "license" itself, the necessary informations are given from the support technicians.

Install ALM 3 on XP-PC Transfer the License-Key to Yellow Disk. After save the License-Key you can try scan the Harddisk for Virus. Have you Asks --> Here in FORUM

Cheers Hi Bilal, Thank you for your assist, Yes, the virus was attacked into our customer's PG. I am unable to download latest version ofsasser . I have tried the sasser version 1.1 but not success. I am unable to take outlaptop's hard disk and plug into another pc for virus scanning. The way I only can do that this pc need to boot from recover CD and thenescape to Dosafter thatrun the softwarescanningvirus from USB memory stick or floppy disk. I have tried many times butnot successful. If re-install window then our customer has to buy the Step 7 licence again ... Best Regards chook

As long as the license was obtained through proper channels and you have documentation for that (license key or authorization), Siemens support will generate a new one for you, generally over the phone, whenever it is needed. They have very amenable and competent staff that will guide you through the procedure. Just click on the Product Support link at the top of this page, then select the Support Request link you will find at the right of the support page, fill in the different fields and click the "Problem with Simatic Authorization/License" checkbox. Support will call you back as soon as they can, in my experience i have never waited much more than an hour. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

Make a Boot-CD with XP. Now you can Transfer Keys and Virusscan.
