Hi All,

I'm using the IoT2050 as a gateway and will likely add some remote plc access via TIA  Portal functionality under certain conditions.
I've done a bit of research and the consensus seems to be to install iptables and set up the forwarding rules in there.

Is this still how it is being done or is there a utility, similar to iot2050setup, that does this?
If iptables is still how its done, does anyone have a tutorial they've made or find useful?
I've seen a couple on YouTube and this seems to be the best one.

iptables is the software to use for that. 

Your video explains what actually happens very well. I found another Debian tutorial, maybe this is enough?

That tutorial worked perfectly.
Here is a synopsis for anyone that might come by later and is looking for a solution:

1. update apt:

    

   apt update

    

2. install tcpdump (this will allow you to monitor traffic on port 102 to verify the connection):

    

   apt install tcpdump

    

3. install iptables:

    

   apt install iptables

    

4. turn port forwarding on in linux:

    

   echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

    

5. enter pre-route (sender to IoT to PLC): 

    

   iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -s 0/0 -d {IoT 2050 Address} --dport 102 -j DNAT --to {PLC Address}:102

    

6. enter post-route (PLC to IoT to sender): 

    

   iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eno1 -d {PLC Address} -j SNAT --to-source {IoT Address}

    

7. start tcp dump:

    

   tcpdump port 102

    

8. connect with portal using the IoT 2050's address as the plc's address: 
   

9. you should immediately see traffic between your laptop and the plc being routed in the linux terminal, portal should go online, use tcpdump commands to help with troubleshooting
