Hello forum Experts, I have a SIMATIC IPC BX-39 6AG4142-7FH12-2AB0 with software controller CPU 1507S F 6ES7672-7FC02-0YG0. Everything works fine apart from the shutdown of windows from PLC program with the SHUT_DOWN instruction. I can reboot it but not shut it down; the screen keeps showing the "Shutting down" view indefinitely and we have to kill it by removing power supply. The PC comes with two SSD drives: one for the OS and software controller and one for data saving; after some trials in which we have also formatted the PC at factory settings (as suggested by technical support) we have discovered that if we remove the second SSD the SHUT_DOWN function from PLC program works correctly! So if we have two SSDs the SHUT_DOWN functions doesn't work and Windows remain stuck in "Shutting down" mode while with only one SSD everything is fine. How can it be possible??? Does someone has some hints? Thank you |

Hello !! Have you tried all possible modes of the shut_Down function? You can find help in the next section of the manual (link). If you have tried them all and the result still does not change, you might consider an update, if possible, of the software controller (link). I hope it will work |
If you found this post helpul, I'd greatly appreciate your feedback with the rate function |

Hello Hank88, thank you for your reply. Yes, we have tried the other modes of FC SHUT_DOWN and they all work, only mode 1 seems to stuck. While looking at the event viewer of Windows we have noticed something strange:
we can't find a reason for that... AttachmentPICTURES.pdf (619 Downloads) |

Hello, technical support has indicated as a temporary solution to disable the Hyperthreading function is the BIOS settings and this has apparently solved the issue but the drawback is that the CPU usage has almost doubled. Let's see if they can suggest a more definitive solution. |

Interesting issue! It sounds like the second SSD might be interfering with the shutdown process. You could check if it's set as a boot or system drive, or if any background processes on that drive are causing delays. Try using a different port or cable, or even disabling the SSD in BIOS to see if that resolves the issue. |

It sounds like the second SSD may be causing a delay during shutdown. Check the power settings, disk management, and SSD drivers. It could be a conflict or a system delay in accessing the second SSD. Hopefully, this helps! |
