sorry for my late response. Your suggestion was very helpfull and now it works with the example image.

Is it also possible to do the same with the IndustrialOS? Because an image without the Node-Red installation would be nice.

Dear community,

has anyone been able to mount cifs with iocharset=utf8?
I use an IoT2050 with ExampleImage (debian 5.10.64)

First step:

When I try to mount an smb share with cifs i had some trouble with special characters in folders and filenames.

Command: sudo mount -t cifs -o rw,vers=3.0,username=testuser //172.22.84.31/data /mnt/test

Second step:

If I try to mount the share with cifs and iocharset=utf8 i get an error(79)

Command: sudo mount -t cifs -o rw,vers=3.0,iocharset=utf8,username=testuser //172.22.84.31/data /mnt/test

Errror: mount error(79): Can not access a needed shared library Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) and kernel log messages (dmesg)

It looks like the charset utf8 is not installed.
locales shows LANG=en_US.UTF-8

Butgrep -i nls_utf8 /boot/config*

shows # CONFIG_NLS_UTF8 is not set

Has someone other the same issue?

Hi,

for the Example Image you can solve that by adding

CONFIG_NLS_UTF8=y

to the file iot2050_defconfig_extra.cfg and build the image on your own.

How to build the image on your own is described in the ReadMe.
