I have a question regarding to reading a ANYBUS Gateway. The idea is that I have a 256 Bytes long area where I have 256 Byte(Character). I have to pick certain characters from this input area and put them into a Character String. Later on the Caracter Strings will be converted into DINT. I have to reproduce the task for many times so I thought to build an SCL block where I read in all 256 bytes into an array and within the block I address them and built the strings.

• I wonder what is the way to test it in TIA portal? How can I create an 256byte long input area in HW config what I can write?
• Also is that possible to define the destination area inside the FB/FC as a TEMP?

Hi Friend.

[1] Testing is going to be difficult. I guess that if you configure the communication hardware you may get communication errors if the hardware is not there already. Maybe think of using M-flag area for testing first - you should not have problems with converting to an input area later on.

[2] Why would you want to go to a TEMP area?.. there is simply no advantage to do that. Go to a non-optimised DB area that is configured for an Array of Char or directly into String - or whatever your heart desires. With the POKE_BLK you can select the portions you wish to extract - no need to pre-process the data.

My client did not like the POKE block. He want me to simplify the solution. 

OK. What I have in mind is to build a UDT match with the gateway and somehow use this UDT to Tag up the bytes in the gateway. I made a screenshot. Any idea why I do not see the IO tags? I created a 256 byte long UDT, I created a Tag from it in the default table match the addres range of the gateway. I can not see the IO tags in the config.  Any idea?

Are you sure your configuration is complete?

I went trough all the settings over and over again. I found everything right. So I turned to Siemens Support and they told me that the reason I can not see the tag in the property window, because third parties does not do that. Maybe later...

Anyways the tag connection should appear in the details view when the card is selected project tree. 

I have learned something again!
