I have the right cable, onlyI need to convert it from a 25 pins to a 9-pins connector.I already have a standard converter. is it nescessary to have a special converter? Or doI have to adjust some sttings in my laptop?Is aCOM1 port allways a RS232 Port??

Niko29 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I have got a normal laptop. The cable should be a RS 232 converter, but it has a 25 pins female connector. On my laptopI only have a COM1 port. That also should be a RS 232 port isn't it? Or doI have to have a special port on my computer for this PC/AG cable. It is not a PG/AG cable.

The layout of the 25p stekker of the convertercable 6ES5 734-1BD20 is described after the link: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/13063839 There are the standard V.24 signals used, Pin 2 TxD, Pin 3 RxD, Pin 7 Ground and the casing as shield. A Note thats also on the Link: Another cause might be that the device is equipped with a low-power interface. These interfaces provide much smaller voltages and currents on the send lines than normal RS232 interfaces. These interfaces are used on the RS232 side in many laptops/desktops and also in some USB adapters. For more information please refer to the manufacturer concerned. That could also be the problem, in STEP5 you can freely choose another COM-port. Bye [:D] Late
