Hi again, just found this off Google: https://sourceforge.net/p/galileodebian/wiki/Home/ Should not take terribly much to adapt that to this product, as the boards appear to be very similar. Again, just great that this can tap the existing progress from the Intel Galileo board. |

I have covered a lot of this including getting Node-Red, MQTT and SQLite3 installed and up and running, configuring the package resources, architecture etc. I have several posts on the RS-Components Designspark web site with details including exact commands to use Here:- Siemens IOT2020 - Unboxing and technical lookSIMATIC IOT2020 - Create SD Card Boot Image and Configure NetworkSiemens IoT2020 - Making use of the full SD Card sizeSiemens IOT2020 - installing and testing Node-Red, MQTT and SQLITE3new video on just this topic Hope this helps, it's all there, and the IOT2000 image will only get better as we report issues and fixes. |

Hi Epy, did you already see this: https://github.com/siemens/meta-iot2000 ? I think its not so difficult to set up the build environment and there you can easily compile your own packages... |

Yes, of course. This is a good starting point indeed. BUT: There is so much power in using stand repos as Raspbian, e.g. for quickly using precompiled software packages in development or testing. Our experience is that it takes a lot of time and hardware handling (sd-card) for building an image. For development we need speed and flexibilty, for testing we need automation all the way. So there is a big need of accessing repos. Just look at the raspberry pi ecosystem, where the extremly large precompiled software accessibility is part of the rpi success. AND: It should not be that much effort to setup a standard distro for the iot20xx linux. Siemens could do a great job here in providing such a distribution, even if it were for "educational purposes" only. We would be exited to see some progress here. |
