Hi,

After windows update automatically installed KB5058411 the Automation License Manager crashes and will not start (the service). Sometimes it start but at the first validation of the license bij TIA Portal the Automation License Manager crashes again. The TIA Portal V19 (Upd 3) is unusable after this Windows update because of this. Is anybody else experiencing this problem?
 

Versions:
- Automation License Manager V6.0 SP12 + Upd2 64 bit edition (release 06.00.12.02_11.11.00.01)
- almsrv64x.exe file version 600.1202.1111.1
- Simatic Step 7 V19.0 Update 3 (V19.00.00.00_68.01.00.02)

Problem (from windows event-viewer):
Faulting-application: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Siemens\sws\almsrv\almsrv64x.exe
Faulting-module: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

After rolling back this update the Automation License Manager functions correct again. But Windows keeps on pushing this update.

Does anybody have an idea what is going on or experiencing the same problem?

You license manager is really old version, install the latest version and it should be fine after that. The latest versions is ALM V6.2 Servicepack 2

Thank you very mucht for the quick reply. I didn't realize it was that old but I have updated it to the latest version as suggested. Unfortunately as soon as i install KB5058411 I run into a problem again. The license manager is running but I'm now unable to copy my license key (from USB) to my harddrive. I get a generic ‘communication failure’ notice (I already checked if it was my firewall) and am unable to open the blocks within my program as I get a license not found error. As soon as I deinstall the KB5058411 it works again an there is no problem. Do you have an other suggestion maybe?

Thanks again for helping out. Unfortunately this doesn't fix the problem for me. I removed bot the update and ALM. Then I first installed the windows update and after that ALM. I keep running into the same issue where the license manager displays a ‘communication failure’ notice. After removing the windows update again everything works fine again.

same issue for windows 11 PC's in Denmark at the school SIMAC. Several studets are having exactly same troubles.  We will try to avoid the 

KB5058411 update if possible

Thanks for the pointer to the other thread. Indeed this procedure worked for me and the ALM is working again (even with the KB5058411 installed)

I celebrated to early. Unfortunately it is not a stable solution. Now I'm at the same point again resulting in a communication failiure. I hope that Siemens Support will come with a proper fix by supplying a new service update.

Could you give some more information about the error you have now? (Communication error?)
