Compiling Error with CPU and G120C Drives: Unique Hardware Identifier Issue

aamirawan91 Regular Member Joined: 3/6/2022 Last visit: 7/2/2025 Posts: 119 Rating: (3)	We have an ET 200SP CPU 1510SP-1 PN connected to seven G120C PN drives, all controlled by the CPU via Profinet. I successfully uploaded the entire project from the CPU, including the hardware configuration of the drives. For some reason the drives are uploaded as "proxy device stations" though the telegram IO addresses, ethernet addresses, device name etc. are intact. Anyway, the project uploaded without any errors, but during compilation, I encountered the following error: "There is an error in the project. Hardware identifiers are not unique." This error specifically pertains to drive number 7, identified as 'Proxy device station_7.' Although I verified that the hardware identifiers for this drive in the system constants are unique, the compilation still fails. The error prevents me from downloading the project back to the PLC. Any insights into why this issue is occurring would be greatly appreciated.

When I deleted the drive from the HW configuration the error went away but how do I reinsert it? And should the hardware identifiers be the same for this newly inserted drive as the deleted one? Also, Why did the drives get uploaded as proxy devices instead of GSD devices? If i insert this drive again after deleting I'll have to get it from the hardware catalog and this one then will be a GSD device file instead of the proxy as the other 6 drives. Will entering all the addresses manually work for this drive?
