Hi, I don't know if a SP3 is coming out. That depends on the added/changed functionality. Since PCS7 V10 is already released, V9.1 could stick with update collections only. Update Collections are Siemens way to update the system without installing the programs separately. As you might know PCS7 consists of several programs and the Update Collections is updating them at once via one installer. For future updates we always check the new/changed functions. If there are desired or safety issues solved, we urge to update the system but since the manuals are not always clear about this, it's sometimes difficult to assess because of the cryptic descriptions. But sometimes we install the separate updates only like CFC/SFC so we don't have to install the OS systems as well. I think you are very flexible on updating the system. You can install the UC, install separate updates and also decide if you want to update the library in case a new AP Library is released. You can even run the updated system but with an older AP library for example. If you use a CPU410-5H, in almost all cases, you can update the blocks without going to stop which is convenient. I agree that some UC can create additional problems. It's also good to read through the readme of the UC to check what has changed and if suits your needs. |
