Hi,

Currently we use CPU 1512SP-1 PN ( 6ES7512-1DK01-0AB).  While looking at other CPU options I have noticed that it has been suceeded by 6ES7512-1DM03-0AB0. The newer model seems to have improved operation and increased work memory. 

Looking In the spec it states "V18 (FW V3.0); with older TIA Portal versions configurable as 6ES7512-1DK01-0AB". We currently run V17 so would have to configure it as 6ES7512-1DK01-0AB.

Would this have any affect on the improvments?

Hi,

You will benefit from the increased performance, but you will not be able to use the new instructions because they are not known to your engineering software.  And you will probably not benefit from the increased memory because TIA Portal knows the available memory and will generate an error if it is exceeded. But since you need to configure the previous model with less memory, you will get the error when you reach that limit.

Currenty, I'm trying to configure 6ES7515-1DM03-0AB0 with portal V17 but i can't find it in the hardware configuration, can some one help me with the HSP file for it or another way to solve it?.

when tia v17 was last updated this PLC did not exist, because of this you will not find it.

as stated above and in the datasheet of the PLC:

you configure the PLC as the equivalent previous model, you will get a worning at download but everything should run normally.

Did you manage to solve this problem? I using the 6ES7 512-1DM03-0AB0 and have the same problem.
