Update HMI on TIA portal to match HMI firmware

Hi, I am using a MTP1500 Unified comfort (6AV2128-3QB06-0AX0). The firmware on the HMI is V19.0.0.3. The TIA portal version I have is TIA portal V19 update 3. On device selection on TIA portal, the HMI firmware only goes to V19.0.0.2. Same issue with my PLC 1515-1PN. It came with V4.0 and TIA only shows V3.1. So not sure how to match my TIA portal with it. How can I get the lates firmware version on TIA portal? I downloaded the PLC and HMI stuff from: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/de/view/78301349 https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/us/en/view/72341852 But this just gives me TIA portal V19 Upd 2 and Upd3 exe files which after install don't show me any new firmware versions. I also downloaded the hsp files for V19, i installed them in the TIA Portal, but they did not contain anything for HMIs or CPUs. |

Check the datasheet of the CPU. It should say which CPU FW to pick in TIA depending on the TIA version used. So for example you got CPU with FW 4.0 and in TIA 18 you select CPU with FW 3.0 and it will work no problem, just without the new 4.0 features. As for the HMI, to get the correct image into TIA you can use HMI Panel Image Updater |

Hi Damian-CIM, As user Humperdoo mentioned, the PLC firmware requires TIA Portal in a minimum version. According to the V4.0 release notes, the minimum required version is TIA Portal V20. Please note that there is a difference between the device version that can be configured in WinCC Unified ES and the installed firmware version. New firmware versions are primarily intended for bug fixes, not for introducing new features. Since the innovation cycle of WinCC Unified does not align with the release cycle of TIA Portal, new features are introduced not only with each new main release but also between releases. Therefore, the compiler needs to be aware of the updated feature set, which requires configuring a different device version. Therefore, the device version will not list firmware version V19.0.0.3 because it only contains fixes. However, you must install the firmware version configured as the device version or a later one. Since all firmware versions are backward compatible, you can install the most recent version, V20 Update 2. Kind regards |
