1.Modbus activated?

The manual "SMA andSunSpecModbus® Interface" located at

states on page 20:

    4 Configuration

The two servers Modbus TCP and Modbus UDP are deactivated as default in the supported SMA  products.  You must activate the Modbus servers to use them. You can activate the Modbus ports of both Modbus protocols upon activation of the servers.

Is the Modbus server activated and is the Modbus Port activated?

I can't tell you how to activate, I've never heard of this device before, but Modbus communications can fail for numerous reasons, like inactive firmware or inactive port.  Page 15 has information on Modbus Ports.

2. Register address

You reference register 30775.

Where did you find that register address? The manual above does not have a slave register list/map?

Page 11 states that SMA supports both Holding and Input registers and it is critical that the master/client use the correct Function Code when polling the slave/server/

I have a serious problem with reading data from an SMA Tripower 6.0 inverter.

It does not matter which data I try to read – for example instantaneous power (30775) or phase voltage L1-N (30782) – no values are transferred into my S7-1200 CPU 1214 DC/DC/Rly.

When I test with the MTCP (Modbus TCP test) program, the data is read correctly, so the Modbus TCP server settings on the SMA inverter are working.

In TIA Portal I have tried both optimized and non-optimized DB blocks, with the same result: no data.

• If I set MB_MODE = 2 or 3, the status is 7004.
• If I set MB_MODE = 102, the status is 7006, but still the read value is 0.

I saw that another user had already described the same problem here, but I could not find a clear final solution.

Can you please help me establish communication with my SMA inverter?
