I need to connect my CPU 319 3PN/DP to a FO industrial ethernet linear network implemented with several OLMs (code 6GK1102-4AA0) and possibly close the ring.
I've been told that this kind of equipmenthas been replacedby Scalance and so i ordered an X204-2 (code 6GK5 204-2BB00-2AA3) to do that.

The problem is i cannot do nothing behind the scalance: cannot extend the linear network (with ring redundancy deactivated) nor close the ring (with ring redundancy activated on FO ports). The rest of the network is not pingable! Note that using another OLM i can extend the linear network and close the ring.
Is there a way to solve that without replacing the scalance?
Is that a compatibility issue?
Is it true that this OLM is old equipment?

I am sorry, but it is true, the OLM is a rather old equipment.
The issue is that fibre optics do not allow autodetction of transfer speed, so you always have fixed Transfer speeds.
The OLM has the Transfer speed on the optical Port of: 10 Base FO
The SCALANCE X has the Transfer speed on the optical Ports of: 100 Base FX

Both systems have different Transfer speeds, the OLM has 10 MBit the SCALANCEhas 100 MBit.

I fear you can not use bothin onefiber optical ring. There are possible extensions for a line structure (SCALANCE X101), but sadly not for a ring structure.
