Help to converter project from S5 to S7

You have to install the new FBs that come with the new modules in your new Step 7 program, converted from the S5 program without the IPxx blocks. Which means you have to look up the manuals for the new modules and study them, as a first step. For the FM 450: -Getting Started: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/5574978 -Installation and configuration: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1118412 For the FM 453: -Getting Started: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/2124818 -Manual of the servo/stepperpositioning module: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/2123608 The Getting Started manuals are a good place to start, they are short, general, and give a good overview of the installation, parameter assignment and functions required to make the module work. The other manuals are more heavy reading, but they cover most details of the workings of the modules. Especially important if you have to chose different configurations or applications with these modules. There are many documents available on every Siemens module on their support page: FAQs, Application notes, downloads, updates... can be found on the Product Support link at the top of this page. Simply use the Search window in the support page to look for inofrmation on the FM 450, for example. And of course on this forum you will find other control people who have had experience with these modules, and who can help you out when you face specific problems. hbosquemx Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Thanks d chartier for your comments, i have the information about each new card, and i understand how works, but my really problem is i have the application program, but i do not know exactly where i need to modify the PLC program, i did first the conversion and after i am updating the plc program, i will need to change the plc to install the counter speed and postioner module.

What do you mean by"I will need to change the PLC" ? If you mean you will change the PLC program and hardware configuration, of course you will have to do so. I suggest you use the sample programs provided with the installation CDs of the FM cards to practice setting them up and understanding what you have to do to include them in your project. Do this in seperate projects from the conversion, so you have nothing distractring you from this specific task. And as stated before, delete any referencee to the S5 IPxx modules from the program, preferably from the S5 program before converting, or if you are unwilling to do the conversion again, in the converted S7 program. But the second way of doing it will probably cost you more work and uncertainty. Then modify your converted program to insert the FMs in your HWConfig, assign the correct parameters to the new cards, and include their function blocks and DBs appropriately to make them work properly in your new S7 environment.
