Hello dear experts.

We are facing a problem in which we have a Festo-CPX FB13 terminal on a profibus network. the problem is that the PLC can't access the device.

We already did the following tasks:

1.- Ensure addresses are ok.

2.- Changed Profibus connector.

3.- Checked Profibus wires, they are ok since we can see the rest of the network devices. OK

4.- The CPX module was changed also, and the new one presented the same problem.

5.- We used the st PG/PC interface to see the nodes on the network and we are able to see the Address 10 (Address of the Festo Device). But when we go to online hardware config, the PLC can't reach the device.

the CPU is a 315-2PN/DP

Have you any ideas of what the problem might be?

Besides not reaching your Festo module on the network, do you have any other symptoms or diagnostic messages?

Do you have any diagnostic LED active on the CPU or the festo module? Did you go Online in the HWConfig editor to see if any module on the bus is declared as defective? Id any module is shown Online with a red slash icon, then its diagnostic buffer contains messages you should look at, by double-clicking on that error icon.

What gsd file have you used to setup the Festo CPX-FB13 as a slave on your network? Does it correspond to this one:

We checked  what you suggest and we found this:

Standard diagnostics of the Slave:

-DP slave not ready yet for data exchange

-Slave specific diagnostic data:

-Incorrect parameter message frame

-Parameters must be assigned to the DP slave again.

Channel specific diagnostics:

Slot             Channel                      Error

  3                    63              CP configuration failure.

  4                    63              CP configuration Failure.

it seems that there is a wrong configuration of the Festo device.

If I remind it right, there is a tool, where you can config the Festo-station, and it also generates the GSD-file that you can insert in HW-config. I would try to reconfig this station and generate this file again.

This document from Festo describes the configuration steps for the CPX-FB13 slave, from the DipSwitches for the node address to the integration in Step 7 through the gse file.

it aslo discusses diagnostics and corrections if required.

Hi Mop and Daniel. Thanks for your help.

Today, Festo came in and they found out faulty module, they changed a card and it worked.

It was one of those situations when you change the faulty module for a new one and the new one is faulty also.

Rescobedo's last message stated he needed to have a Festo technician come on and diagnose/repair the unit.

If none of the preceding suggestions work, then proceed to a service call, especially if this a new-off the shelf issue.
