Tia Portal V17 update fails install

I'm facing annoying issues with Tia Portal V17 that suddenly started to crash while opening any existing project or even new project. I tried install the lastest update and it fails at prerequisites. Even uninstalling TIA V17 fails at prerequisites. Any other TIA V17 tool installation fails at prerequisites. Event TIA V16. I'm pretty sure to have enough disk space and RAM. Could it be latest OS (win10) updates ? Any ideas ? Thank you very much.

Found my fix procedure as: Run cmd as Administrator Type "cd wbem" and hit Enter Type “dir /b .mof .mfl \| findstr /v /i uninstall > moflist.txt & for /F %s in (moflist.txt) do mofcomp %s” Hit Enter. This fix WMI file corruption issue. It worked for me. Now able to install TIA updates Regards

Geralt of Rivia Member Joined: 1/27/2011 Last visit: 10/24/2024 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	I can confirm that the solution above works, in this case with a TIA v14 SP1 Upd10 installation that simply wouldn't start. However, it also caused a problem with Simatic Manager v5.6. For some reason it wouldn't start and showed the message "The registry database is not set up correctly for the SIMATIC Manager. Install STEP 7 again.". After reinstallation it was running normally again, but to avoid this, it may be better to be a bit more selective with the recompilation of the WMI files. You can check the Event Viewer under Windows Logs -> Application for errors from the “WMI” source that report missing classes, use these to identify the faulty WMI files and then use mofcomp to compile those.
