We are using S7-412-5H CPU with PS405 4A. Can anyone tell me what will be the life of Backup battery if system is running continuously?? Thank You..

Even if the system is not running continuously, there is not a clear answer, as the puffer time depends on the hardware built and must be calculated individually. In general, it is stated to change the battery "at the latest after one year". When should you replace the back-up battery on your S7 300/400 controller? How great is the power requirement (from the backup battery) of the modules to be backed up at "Power Off" and what is the relationship between the backup current and the length of the backup time? regards sancruz

It maybe works longer, but depends on the system and its usage. The system usually calls an OB81 when there is a battery fault. Some companies have the practise to change it, when the actual battery is empty, and the PLC informs them with a message, called in that OB81, hope this helps, regards,

SIR Experienced Member Joined: 2/2/2007 Last visit: 4/8/2024 Posts: 55 Rating: (4)	In my experience over last 20 years and about 100 S7-400s better to change every 1/2 year. When we got sick with this a simple solution was found - external power supply backed-up by small rechargeable battery connected to the 400 CPU via the small audio jack on the bottom. Any voltage 7-11 V will do, consumption is 1 mA or even less. Try this!!
