Hi.

VMWARE (V12.5, default hardware compatibility workstation V12) does not see the hardware.

So there is no entry in the device manager.

Although the topic is created years ago, I would like to share how to get it working.

This is to read Siemens New S7-1x00 Memory Card in VMware Player.

1) Check your card reader disk volume number (host machine) under Windows 'Disk Management'. Most likely, it's Disk 1 or Disk 2.

2) Adjust setting in VM Machine under Manage > Virtual Machine Setting > Hardware Tab > Add > Hard Disk > IDE > Use Physical Disk (for advance users) > Choose the disk number that you read in step 1 (Disk 1 = PhysicalDrive1) > Usage: Use entire disk > allow the creation of a file name.

3) Power ON the VMware. Check if you see the Memory Card.

4) If you see the Memory Card, then start TIA. Under Card Reader/USB memory click > 'Add user-define Card Reader' > Choose the Memory Card.

With the above steps, I managed to read the card in TIA Portal.

*for MMC, we still need Prommer.
