Hello Stefo You have two options : a) Use a 75mV Shunt in series of 24VDC power circuit. Use a mV to mA Converter transducer ( WIth isolation ) . the mA signal can be connected to a meter / Analog input of a PLC This should be sufficient for upto 1600A Current range I am attaching a drawings extracted from one of the projects where we used Shunt to measure DC current in PLC with good results. b) Hall effect transducers are usually used for higher current> 1000 amps e.g. for Graphite Baking Furnaces, Aluminum / Zinc / CopperElectrolyses etc whe currents can go upto 100kA and beyond. This would of course be a much more expensive that the first option. The Hall effect Transducers usually provide a mA signal proportional to the DC Current which can be connected to a meter / PLC Analog Input Hope this helps Cheers Navnag AttachmentDC_Current_Sensing.pdf (1382 Downloads) |

Hi there can you please explain you the shunt that we are connecting to the ammeter has a unit of mV instead of OHM??
