Step7 5.5 SP4 became slow after installed Tia Portal V13 SP1

tony_m78 Regular Member Joined: 4/15/2014 Last visit: 3/4/2025 Posts: 16 Rating: (3)	Hello, after the installation of SP1 of Tia Portal V13, the standard Step7 V5.5 SP4 has become really slow. It takes more then 3-4 seconds to open the symbols editor or the hardware configurator, while before the installation of TIA V13 SP1 it was extremely fast (0,5-1 second). I'm sure about the point that the problem come from the SP1, because we are talking about a virtual machine, so I just cloned a good one and then updated to SP1. I have a movie where I can display the two virtual machines running on the same PC, same project, and you can see the difference while opening symbol table or hardware configuration. Today I tried to update to Tia V13 SP1 UPD1 (just relased yesterday!!!) but nothing change.

(Hardware and OS) In general, TIA V13 and STEP 5.5 SP4 are compatible, but depending on operating system. (see attachement) recommended for TIA V13 is 8GB or more intel core i5, 3.3Ghz or more SSD storage Windows 64Bit Attachment comp.pdf (788 Downloads)

I would say even you have a very good PC performance in case installed TIA. Is it possible to check the reaction before/after installation of TIA compared with another kind of software? Let's say with Autocad or another one... The problem is not because of software compatibility - it is because of TIA. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

tony_m78 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Others software run at the same speed. Even KOP-FUP-AWL editor run fast as before, actually the lags appears only when opening symbols, hardware configurators and NetPro.

tony_m78 Regular Member Joined: 4/15/2014 Last visit: 3/4/2025 Posts: 16 Rating: (3)	Another info: after opening the symbols editor, if I don't close it but I just close the open table (CTRL+F4) so the editor keeps open (with no symbol tables), the next time that I try to open the symbol table it happen immediatly!

I've tried uninstalling SP1, but Step 7 5.5 remains slow. Just to check, I reverted to a disk image with Step 7 and TIA V13 (no SP1), and Step 7 performed fast. Applied SP1 to TIA, and slow again. Definitely TIA V13 SP1 makes irreversible changes to S7, which degrade its performance.

Some times I have to wait for up to 5min to upgrade the project. I'm using a ASUS ROG so the hardware is not a problem. It would be great if they solve it!

Tia Portal also seems to be more fast and stable!! There seems to be no new Problems within TIA, but Step7 still needs longer time to start, I see no change to Upd. 3.
