Anyway, Here there are a V15 version of a demonstration program and casts showing about how it was created. The project uses S7-1500 (but the configuration is similar to S7-1200). The use of S7-1500 has the advantage to be simulated in PLCSIM Advanced. The casts could be used as basis to build a project from zero. Attachment MODBUS.zip (2425 Downloads)

rojasalmut2 Regular Member Joined: 8/18/2015 Last visit: 4/13/2023 Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	Hi, with the internet examples, I made an example project between two s7-1200 (one as a server and the other as a client) maybe it can help you. use version 14 of the TIA PORTAL, CPUs with firmware version 4.2 and MODBUS instructions V4.1. The s7-1500 PLC is a Modbus client and so I am only using "MB_CLIENT_DB". 1) MB_DATA_PTR didnt accept a struct as in your example, "MB_CLIENT_DB".STATUS = error 818B: "The MB_DATA_PTR parameter has an invalid pointer." However, no complain with an array[0..2] of Int. 2) if Client_Send_DB.InterfaceId is < 64, "MB_CLIENT_DB".STATUS = error 809B: "The element InterfaceId within the TCON_xxx structure does not reference a hardware identifier of a CPU or CM/CP interface or has the value "0"." 3) if Client_Send_DB.InterfaceId is >= 64, "MB_CLIENT_DB".STATUS = error 8086: "The ID parameter is outside the valid range." Those 2 last errors are not specifique to MODBUS (TCP) but to TCON for S7-1200/S7-1500. As I understood, I need to set InterfaceId with the Hardware Identifier of the PLC port used to communicate with the Modbus Master. In this case, the ethernet cable is connected to Port[X1 P1 R], which has a Hardware Identifier = 65, as seen in the following screenshot: http://i.gyazo.com/4916e839cd260cc5cc3fe7f3d6ca58cd.png I also attached my sample project to this post for info.
