Hello everyone.
I'm having an issue with some S120 drives: they are linear axis with a 1-encoder system.
I've enabled the Extended Safety Functions, set up SLS, but now the diagnostic spits out this error message:

31916: Encoder 1: Encoder parameterization error (Parameter: 415, supplementary information: 0)

p415[0] is Gx_XIST1 Coarse position safe most significant bit (identified), but this info doesn't give me any help.

I've found out that I can temporarily solve the drive fault by following the solutions in this topic.

To copy the encoder parameters into the safety parameters, click on the button in the attachment (navigation: SINAMICS  device >> drive axis >> Parameter >> Safety Integrated >> Actual value acquisition).

If this does not solve your problem, the F31916 comes with a fault code that indicates the parameter that was not transferred correctly. This way you can solve the discrepancy between encoder parameter and safety parameter one by one.

As soon I accept the encoder data and reset any machine fault, the S120 drive looks good. So I retentively save the data, power off and then again on the control unit and then I'm back with my drive fault.

Those are Fine resolution and p415[0] values.

SOLUTION

I solved this issue by following the following solution. This problem is caused by firmware V5.1, which at the moment I'm not able to update.

we met the same fault and another fault C01711(1033), the firmware is V4.8 HF6;

Update the firmware to V5.2 SP3 HF9, reconfiguration all the hardware and parameters, it works.
