 The router assigns the addresses of the DHCP range. Fixed IP addresses in devices in the DHCP range are not known to the router. The router assigns the IP address of the LOGO! again.

If requests then come to this IP address, the router cannot forward them to the LOGO!.

 

 This isn't how any other device works, we have many hundreds of fixed IP address devices around our plant, we give the device a fixed IP and the route/switch, checks the IP isn't already used, but then uses the fixed address for that device. This is from a wide number of manufacturers, the ONLY time I've come across this is with this Siemens unit, one of our first tests of Siemens Logo, which didn't go well. :(

Usually, things plugged into the network send a "Who has xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx?" request, to check it's IP isn't already used.

 Is this still the case that the BM needs to be outside the DHCP range?

IF so this is a massive issue for industrial installations. I can't understand why my CMR2040, my Logo Soft 8.3 can "see" the device but can't download to it.

This has taken me most of the day to get to this point! Only to find out we might not be able to use it.

Is this issue only for programming?

I.E. can we still communicate via Modbus, and between the CRM and BM if the IP is within the DHCP range?

This would be workable as you then only have to connected directly to the BM for programming, a pain, but manageable.

Does anyone know the answer to this?

They are connected directly through an ethernet cable.

LOGO: 192.168.203.56

PC: 192.168.203.100

Subnet for both: 255.255.255.0
