T Murali Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Iam having few doubts about Mag 8000 flow meter. 1. The units of Flow rate and Totalizer can be displayed on the Flow meter display instead of using stickers for Flow rate & Totalizer units. 2. If the flow is halfbore can any error log be created in the flow meter. Splitted from Mag 8000.

dchartier Grandmaster Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 11/10/2024 Posts: 12293 Rating: (2691)	Hello Mr. Murali; Based on the information from the operations manual proposed earlier: 1) it seems you cannot show the units directly on the display, and you must use the provided stickers to amark them. See the attached document. 2) In the same manual, section 9.2 shows fault code E, which stands for "Empty pipe detection". Text: Measured electrode impedance has exceeded the empty pipe detection level (FT540 & FT541 &FT334) Cause: Pipe is not filled with water Remedy: Ensure sensor is filled with water. Hello Mr. Murali, I believe you should activate parameter 260, as stated before. There is also a question of mechanical installation of the sensor: If "Empty Pipe Detection" is used, sensor should be tilted 45° as shown in upper right figure to maximize full pipe detection and provide accurate volume calculations. (page 18) As far as the actual impedance value of the electrode forEmpty pipe detectionlook at this extract: Empty pipe detection Electrode impedance is measured with 800 Hz at 50 Hz mains frequency (960 Hz at 60 Hz mains frequency). This is done by toggling the electrode control pin every 6 respectively 5 samples – the sample frequency is 9600 Hz. The impedance value is averaged over 100 measurements. The electrode impedance A and B are measured in turns. The unfiltered impedance value (a fast warning indication) is compared with a limit and the empty pipe warning is reported when it exceeds this limit – but only if the detection is ON and if there is no overload failure. During empty pipe detection the coil current is held OFF and the flow value is forced zero. Default settings for Electrode Impedance Limit is 25 000 ohm corresponding to a water conductivity of 20 μS/cm (10 000 ohm ≈ 50 μS/cm). (Function description page 75) Empty pipe impedance (FT332) is a protected parameter that requires a hardware key to change (see list page 58). Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
