Hello KRK; The Sitrans P DS III you are purchasing is configured as a Profibus-PA instrument: Sitrans P DS III diff. Pressure transmitter, Profibus-PA: https://eb.automation.siemens.com/mall/en/WW/Catalog/Product/?mlfb=7MF4434-.....-....&autoopen=false Profibus-PA is a different technology than Profibus-DP, it uses MBP instead of RS-485 and is bus-powered; it alsouses a different bus cable and topologiesthan Profibus-DP. See the following presentation on Profibus-PA from Profibus.com: Why can't you connect PA slaves directly to an interface for PROFIBUS DP slaves? What must you watch out for when connecting PROFIBUS PA devices to the PROFIBUS DP? This FAQ confirms the way to connect a Sitrans P to a S7 CPU through Profibus-PA nad Profibus-DP; it discusses PCS 7 as a controlling software, but the description of the hardware and the connections is similar for Simatic Manager: You will also need a licensed copy of PDM software in order to parametrize the PAinstruments, set the zero ansd span, read secondary variables, etc,,, Option PDM -- Working with projects -- Creating and editing projects Hope this helps,

Hello KRK; Here are 2 links providing both the edd file (for installation in Simatic PDM) and the gsd file (for setting the Sitrans P DS III as a Profibus-DP slave (you will have to locate the correct version of yourinstrument in the list provided): EDD/GSD: SITRANS P DSIII - Profibus PA - SIMATIC PDM V6.0 Although the second file should be sufficient to connect the instrument through a DP/PA coupler and establish communications through Profibus-DP, you will only have a 5-byte exchange with the DP-master: - the first 4 bytes are a REAL value (floating-point) that contains the main variable value read by the instrument; - the last byte is a quality value for the status of the connection. This is the only interface you will have with the instrument through the gsd file. All other interfaces with the instrument(calibration, status, disgnostics, secondary variables) are available only through PDM (with the correct eddl file). Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
