popi Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hi. I have in my HMI selected 3 area of time. Example first Start on 6:00 and Stop at 12:00 second Start at13:00 Stop at 22:00 third Start at 23:00 Stop at 05:00. I need read system time ad make comparation with my area of time. when is system time in one of my area I need set one Bit. But when format time is in 6:00:00 AM, I dont know its 6 o`clock or 18 o`clock. This is my problem. I have S7 1200 CPU 1214C and HMI KTP 400. Sorry fom my english.

In Step7-basic, project view: Languages and Resources = Select a language that normally has the format that you want. (For me= swedish => no AM/PM and my 24H klock) For your panel "Runtime Settings" -> "Language & font"...

I'm using system time DTL format to output time and data to HMI interface, but it uses the AM and PM notification and i wanted it to use the 24h clock so i could compare the hours using a 24h format. How can i accomplish that without having to redo everything that i've already done on my HMI interface? Also, is there a way to keep the system time couting and retaining the time and data after the PLC gets disconnected from power supply? I see that there's a box with "retain" in the DB's menu but even after i check "retain" it won't retain the values of time and data it had before power failure. Or is there some kind of system clock that's always counting even when the CPU is off? Thanks in advance EDIT: I've noticed that the time associated to RD_LOC_T function keeps "counting" even after the CPU is disconnected from power. If so, can i edit LOCAL TIME so i can use it as system internal clock?

FreakOnALeash Posts: 267 Rating: (24)	Hello, I wonder that your CPU-time isn't storedafter apower shut down. Normally you haven't set the DTL to retain because it will actualize every scan time. Please check if it is the same with this sample: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/39182145 If you want the 24h-format, you can use the german language setting ortake the time out of the DTL stucture: hour:minute:seconds.

I've seen the link you gave me and i've already tried that, but i have some questions/problems: 1 - What's that %M0.0 bit in the sample you gave me? Is it the "First Cycle" system bit? If so, i've already used it and the only think it does is start the TIME_SYSTEM_READ so the clock starts counting am i right? 2 - How can i change the system time? I've set it like the sample you gave me, including the input/output proprieties on the HMI interface, but everytime i edit the system time within the HMI (using the TIME_SYSTEM_WRITE DB), the TIME_SYSTEM_READ remains unaltered and just keeps counting. Why does this happen? 3 - Also, is there a way to retain the system time even after the CPU looses power? I really need to do it but i don't know how.. 4 - Regarding the 24h format, i've done like you said: compare the DB's hours as they're saved in the 24h format (0 - 23). Can you help me with these questions please? I would be really appreciated because i'm running out of time to my Master's thesis deadline.. Thank you so much for your help so far.

1 - M0.0 "write_time" is the bit that will set the system time.
It will be activated by pressing the button "set time" on your HMI and will be reset by releasing the button.

2 - How can i change the system time? You have to edit the system time of the CPU by activating the I/O field on the right of the "set time" button in the format like it's given: "mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss xM" (x=A or P; 12h-format for English) or "dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm:ss" (for German), press RETURN and then press the "set time" button

3 - My CPU keeps the time after power come back with this sample (without modification of the sample)

4 - so it works like you expected or need it?

You can only set the local time by setting the system time.
Theoffset is alwalys what you set in "Time of day" proberies of your CPU.
If you wanna change the offset in the runtime, you can use the function "SET_TIMEZONE".

All i needed to do was to delete one "MOVE" function i had where it didn't belong, so now it's all working. THANK YOU so much for your time and help!
