In my Engineering station in which we have step 7 , in that Some time "GO to location" option is not working , and after restarting the PC again it start working ,

please guide what to do whether i need to reinstall the Step 7 ?

 what kind of error occur when you trying "go to location"?

have you generate reference data ?when you start your project.

 Hello Shekhu,

Hello before you think about reinstalling Step7, You shall test “Go to location” for another project in your step7

Have you tried to perform “Check block conistency” for your project? Doing so will update your IDBs, check all FC and FB parameters and I think it can update your reference data, but watch out as it will regenerate the report system error (if you are using this option) and it will regenerate the instance data blocks (will erase initial values of IDBs if you are saving initial values in IDBs)

 Hello,

This happen if you have for example a Bit (M10.0) programmed only in FC1.

And in FC2, you put a NC or NO contact of M10.0.

Then go to FC1, and right click on the bit M10.0, hit Go to, It will not work.

Thus because you did not saved FC2 yet.

If you saved FC2, or closed the project with saving all blocks it will work.

Normally The cross reference works with the last saved version of your project.

Did you recieve an OLE error 256:26?

Please check forum search for solution (mostly Virus scanner or harddisc is full...).

What happens to me with HF8 of Step7 V5.5 SP4:

When I open "go to Location" it works. If  I Close the window and open it again immediately, I recieve the OLE Error 256:26.

The workaround: after closing the "go to Location" window, I just wait 5 second before open it again OR I never close the window.

It seems to be some timing problem on fast PC.

Please check forum search for solution (mostly Virus scanner or harddisc is full...).

What happens to me with HF8 of Step7 V5.5 SP4:

When I open "go to Location" it works. If  I Close the window and open it again immediately, I recieve the OLE Error 256:26.

The workaround: after closing the "go to Location" window, I just wait 5 second before open it again OR I never close the window.

It seems to be some timing problem on fast PC.

It is not showing any error and also i have generated the reference data , and did the block consistency check , then also on clicking the GO TO LOCATION option nothing is happening .

But as i restart the system GO TO LOCATION start working .

now i am using the cross reference for any program trouble shooting .

 Hi,

No error is showing and it stop working suddenly , and after restating the system again it works for some hour .

and all other things are working fine except GO TO LOCATION .

is there any services which stop due to which it is not working?
