Communication between CPU 315-2 DP and OP 77A via PROFIBUS-DP

golish Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello. I'm a beginning user of the Siemens Simatic controllers, so please forgive me if I'm asking an obvious question. I've searched the forum and the FAQs but I was unable to find any solution to my problem. I have a CPU 315-2 DP and a OP 77 A. I'm trying to configure communication between them as shown on the attached NetPro screenshot. I've configured the networking as follows: * communication between the CPU and the PC is done via MPI and it works fairly well * the DP module of the CPU is assigned an address of 3 * the OP is assigned an address of 1 (both in the NetPro and in the OP itself) * the network speed is set to 1.5 Mbps (both in the NetPro and in the OP) * the network profile is set to DP * the CPU is configured as a DP master and the tick-box "Only master on the bus" in WinCC referring to the OP is unchecked * the CPU has assigned 1 communication resource for the communication with an OP * the project from WinCC is downloaded to the OP and the network configuration from NetPro is downloaded to the CPU The problem is that the communication, obviously, isn't working - neither can I transfer the project from WinCC to the OP via the CPU, nor the CPU and the OP do exchange tag values. I've double-checked the cables and everything seems to be OK on the hardware side so I presume the problem lies in my software configuration. Can you give me any hints on debugging the problem? Or maybe there is a step-by-step manual for configuring such a setup? If it requires any additional information, I'll be glad to supply them. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Perhaps you can confirm thisthrough your OP77A or WinCC Flexible documentation, or maybe someone else can help out: Are you sure the OP77A interface can be setup for Profibus (in the WinCC Flexibleconfiguration)? I seem to remember it was a serial RS-485 connection only. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

golish Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Yes, the communication interface of the OP 77A can be set to PROFIBUS (as far as I understand the manual correctly) - the dip switches on the back of the OP have to be switched to the "DP/MPI/PPI" position, the MPI/DP interface has to be activated in the OP's configuration menu and the PROFIBUS network has to be selected in the WinCC Flexible. Of course, I've done all that. Thanks for your hint but (fortunately) that's not the root of my problems. Best regards, Marcin Goliszewski.

First of all the HMI Panels in the S7 are usually not equipped with DP Slave functionality. Well, not as long as you do not have direct Pushbuttons on the panel that are used as DP Slaves... so you can not configure the Panel with a DP Master System. The communication between the Panel and the PLC is usually made by S7 Communication, actively from the Panel to the PLC. The Configuration has to be done with WinCC flexible, there you have to establish the connection, not in STEP7. I would recommend using, instead of the DP Bus parameter set, the Standard Bus parameter set. This allows the Panel to take a bit more time to communicate. I hope these hints help you to get your installation running. Best regards J_Bell

Why is the communication working if I enable the serial interface on the OP? I presume there has to be an erroneous configuration in some other place - any hints what to check? 2. Has anybody got any other hints on where to look for errors which make the PROFIBUS configuration not working? 3. Any hints how to make the project transfer via the PLC possible? Have you already read the FAQ: How do you use WinCC flexible 2005 to transfer a project to an operator panel via S7 routing? This one explains some reasons on routing with WinCC flexible. Maybe I'm not stating my question clear enough - if so, please ask some questions to help me supply all the necessary details. As for now, I can add that the weirdness of working communication when I enable the serial interface is now (i.e. several transfer of WinCC project to the OP later) gone - I'm back to the initial situation where I have no communication between the PLC and the OP. golish Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	I've contacted the Technical Support and after some debugging the solution is found: I've installed HotFix 4 for WinCC flexible 2007, updated the OP's OS to the newest available version and now everything (both the tags' exchange between the PLC and the OP and the project transfer via routing) is working just fine!
