It depends if it is a transparent DP/PA coupler you don't configure it at all in the HWconfig, but may have to adjust your DP baud-rate and/or bus timing parameters. In any case, the manual of your non-Siemens DP/PA coupler will tell you what you to do so I suggest you have a look at it. |

Hello Hassan; Whn you are connecting a Profibus-PA instrument to a Profibus-DP master using a coupler (it can be from Siemens,or any othr manufacturer), the coupler is transparent to the networks. There is no gsd file for the coupler. In the configuratin of the DP master you insert the instrument you want to connect through its own (Profibus-PA) gsd file, and you link the instrument to the DP line in the configurator. Physically you must connect the instrument to the coupler that you then connect to the Profibus-DP line. The PA instrument recieves an address for the Profibus-DP network, and sends its data (1 status byte and a 4-byte REAL value representng the measure) directly to the DP master. There is one important rule you must take notice of: when you use a coupler to connect a Profibus-PA instrument, the whole Profjbus-DP network must operate at the speed allowed by the coupler. For a Siemens PA coupler, that means the Profibus-DP network speed must be reduced to 45.45 kB. For a P&F SK1 coupler, the allowed speed is 93,75 kB. Siemen offers a DP/PA link that overcoomes this limitation, whereas the DP side can run at its normal speed (1,5 MB, 12 MB) and the PA side operates independantly at its own speed. But a coupler alone does not decouple the networks... (sorry for the bad pun).
