We are trying to establish communication with Hitachi HXC-CP1H16 PLC via TCP/IP using TCON,TDISCON Blocks but it is not getting connect. Below are the details:

We have Siemens CPU 1518F-4 PN/DP MFP - 6ES7518-4FX00-1AB0 (Firmware Version 2.8)

wanted to connect to Hitachi HXC-CP1H16 PLC. 

To establish connection we are using TCON Block. Below are the settings in TCON we have done:

Partner: Unspecified

Connection Type: TCP

ID:3

Local Port: 2000

Partner Port: 3010.

Local IP: 172.16.60.170 

Partner IP: 172.16.60.161

Active Connection Establishment: Siemens CPU 1518F

Issue - Upon Initiating Request to connect with Hitachi PLC, nothing happens and no error code is returning. Upon checking the the Help section of TCON Block we have found that the TCON block supports CPU with Firmware V2.9 & Above. Is it really issue with Firmware because our current CPU Firmware version is 2.8. 

Kindly give us the solution. Or suggest any other instruction to connect with Hitachi PLC over TCP/IP Protocol. If you need any further details please let me know. 

Dear Sir, Thanks for your reply. I have checked the error code before establishing connection and after initiating connection but it stays constant 16#7000. I have attached Photo for the same. Kindly check.

My CPU firmware Version is 2.8. Does that causing this issue ?

The status feedback you mention is not a problem. Only when it is of format 16#8xxx does it indicate an error. The error would also only show up for one scan. So it needs to be captured when it happens. The Error pin on the instruction is a good indication of a problem.

You are concentrating only on the Siemens side. What about the Hitachi side? What is configured there? (image below for Hitachi specifications)

Make sure that the Hitachi side is not aiming to use Ethernet/IP while the Siemens side is trying to communicate with Ethernet/TCP. Also be sure to know which side creates the link and which side listens.

There is the option of using Modbus TCP instead. But that is a different command set you will have to use. 

What are your thoughts?

Sorry if I created the illusion that I have all the knowledge you need. I am not familiar with Hitachi. The specification sheet did lead to the clues.

You can review the application example for the S7-1500 side: How do you program and parameterize Modbus/TCP communication between S7-1500 CPUs and S7-1200 CPUs? 

The first step you should make is to decide which side gives the information (server) and which side takes the information (client). On the server side you need to configure which memory locations are made available to the client. The client is normally the partner that establishes the connection. You can either hold the connection or make connection only for the while a transaction is being processed.

It is possible for the S7-1500 to be server and client. The only restriction is that a new resource with another port number needs to be configured.

You will need to find out from people who know the Hitachi on what is expected on that side.
