I worked with sac Files before but only with batch files.

There you have to use the SmartServer.exe - config and then the Name and Path of the sac file.

Is it possible to specify/explain your answer more please..?

I have a new laptop. If I try to open sac-files, the message "Invalid Sm@rtServer specified" appears (just like first post of kamalcarto..). I tried several attempts without success..

I can reach the screen (clicking tree dots, just like kamal, ...). But cannot open the sac-files like in the past (with one double-click)..

You cannot open a sac File with double click. Its only a configuration file but It is no application.

As I wrote you have to use the SmartClient Exe as application and then the sac file as parameter (With batch file or shortcut)

for Example:

smartclient.exe -config filename.sac

Of course you have to care about Directories and Paths and so on.

However, on my windows 7-laptop it is possible (with a double click)
I installed everything the same.. , maybe it is a windows 10-issue

This problem also occurs on my colleague's laptop (windows 10), and on their windows 7 also no trouble.. 

but okay, the issue is not a big deal

Hi,

Of course you can open it with double click on it.

Maybe the very first time you should right click on it,  select "Open with" and select the Sm@rtClient.exe. That makes the association between the SAC files and the Sm@rtClient application in Windows.

It 100% works under Windows 10 (I use it for a couple of years).

The real issue might be insufficient permissions as Windows User.

I currently experience it with 2 Laptops (both Windows 10):

- the first one, on which I have an administrator account works 100% with double click

- the second one, on which I have a user account gives me the Argument error: Invalid Sm@rtServer specified
