Hello, Be aware that not all models do have an IP address. (X000, X100, XB000, ... don't). Only the manageable versions have an address (X200 and above). The MAC address that should react to device detection is the one printed on the device. Is the MAC used by the so called "Agent" in the device. When you use "edit ethernet node", do you detect all other devices except the Scalance Or no devices at all? Could be an indication where to search further. If you are unsuccessful with "edit Ethernet node", you could try the tool that is delivered with Scalance X itself, the primary setup tool. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19440762 Node detection uses a protocol DCP, that you can disable by configuration in the switch or even in Step7. Extra note: When you say that a device has only one MAC, this is not true. For toplogy detection, each port uses a port specific MAC address (used by LLDP). But you will hardly detect thisaddress because it is only used between neighbour ports. And is not needed to set the IP address of the agent. |

Hello Vikram, if you do not want to use STEP 7, PST or WBM, you also can use the command line interface with the Windows Console. Look here http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/de/63203259 Chapter 4.2 Greetings, |
