Trouble using ChangeConnection on KTP comfort panel

tmcolby Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	What I am trying to accomplish: I have a KTP400 comfort panel and a 1214 PLC. I have succesfully configured the PLC to use the T_config instruction to give me the ability to change the IP of the PLC in the program. The problem, however, is once the PLC IP is changed, the HMI no longer communicates with it. I am trying to implement the ChangeConnection command on the HMI to re-establish communication with the PLC that now has a new IP. As a first step I have added a button to the HMI with the event on click to ChangeConnection. I have hard coded the connection, address, rack, and slot for simplicity of first getting the event working. Please see my screen shot. I have highlighted key elements in yellow. When I click the "SET" button, nothing seems to happen. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Attachment changeconnection.jpg (1122 Downloads)

I guess you already have seen this link: how can you have any number of automation systems addressed one after the other by the "Change Connection" function with WinCC flexible PC Runtime or a Panel? AutoGen_368004 Posts: 60 Rating: (19)	The function "ChangeConnection" is not working very well with the connection to new CPUs, meaning S71200/1500. Because this connection uses a new communication method, namely "OMS+". In TIA Portal V12, you can no longer modify the connection to new CPUs using this "ChangeConnection" function, the new connections simply don't show up in the list.... Now this function works officially only for 300/400. But in V12, you can cheat the system by manually creating a connection using 300/400 communication driver and pointing to the IP address of 1200, make sure to set slot=1, rack=0. This doesn't work for the optimized DBs since the optimized DBs can only be read with OMS+. For 1500, it works basically the same way, with one additional step. in the CPU properties, go to "pertection" and enable the PUT/GET communication. this allows the 1500 to talk in S7 language, otherwise it only understands OMS+.

salrandazzo Posts: 57 Rating: (8)	Indeed, I have some unsolved problem - CPU S7-1200 1214C - HMI KTP400 comfort I created a "dummy" connection with S7-300/400 protocol and undefined PLC side parameters. I defined a "IPADDR" HMI wstring variable, length 15. I made a page with two buttons, that write two different IP address inIPADDR and a "connect" button that trigger the "Change connection" function with connection = "dummy", address = IPADDR, slot=1 and rack=0. But when I hit the change connection button, nothing happens. One IP address aims at an existing PLC, the other one aims to a non existing PLC. I would expect that if I try to connect to the second one, I should lose all numeric values, getting only #####. But I still can see values that are on the first existing PLC. What to do? You've to use the 300/400 driver otherwise the connection doesn't appear on the connection list of the button action. on a HMI page define one or more buttons. Each button trigger a connection action to a different PLC via different IP address, using "dummy" connection, slot 2, rack 1 compile. There should be no errors, but the connection change doesn't work. When you hit the button the connection doesn't change. now change the "dummy" connection driver to "S7-1200". compile. Still no errors, but now the connection change works. If it works, don't ask me why. On my bench it works, with TIA 12, S7-1214 and KTP400. Don't try to use IP indirect addressing. If you use a string variable in the "address" field of the "change connection" event. No error arises but the change connection simply doesn't work. So there is no way to use a drop list to select the new connection. We have to use a series of buttons, each one with its own "change connection" event, with a string constant as a IP address. salrandazzo Posts: 57 Rating: (8)	@Metro85, Thank you for your advice but I think that the real problem doesn't lie on "event action" or "script" using. The real problem is that the "Simatic S7 1200" communication driver doesn't work properly, i.e. it doesn't show in the "connection" list when you try to define a "change connection" action. That's why we're forced to work in a five-phase way: 1 - define the variable connection as "S7 300/400" 2 - define buttons actions (change connection). Thanks to the "S7 300/400" selection the connection appears in the list. 3 - save and compile. The "S7 300/400" connection won't generate any compile-time error, but won't actually connect to PLCs. Close the HMI page where connection buttons are. 4 - change the variable connection driver to "S7 1200". 5 - compile again and load into the HMI. This time the compiler won't complain, and the HMI will connect to PLCs. Moreover, you've to apply this five-step procedure everytime that you've to modify the button connection page of your HMI, otherwise you'll get complilation errors.
