WinCC <----> S7-300/400 sporadic problems

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (264)	Hi everyone! I have following problem: some sporadic error occurs when communication takes place. At first we had about 15 s7-400 PLC with different order numbers connected in 2 profibus (12mbits,OLM) rings. Each of them is connected to cp 5613 A2 card on PC with winCC 6.0. Then we added 3 s7-315 2dp controllers and problems began. For some period of time the connection is lost to the whole ring (happens with both rings). in 95% of cases connection lost for only 1-2 seconds. But there were a break for 30 or even more seconds, which is unacceptable.

Did you add the 3 S7-300 CPUs to the existing Networkconfiguration in STEP 7? Did you download the new, complete Busparameter set to all the Stations? I hope you see my points. Best regards J_Bell

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (264)	I see what you mean. We have made a project with all our stattions in it. Then we wrote down bus parameters and wrote them in each station as user-defined. Also we have deselected "Cyclic bus parameter distribution" in order to decrease net load. S7-300 are marked as DP-Slaves with 1 word for exchange with DP Master (one of WinCC Servers) for same reason (decrease net load). All our s7-400 set as No DP (where is was allowed) and as DP Master (in newer CPUs it's not allowed to choose No DP). We tried to makek them also DP-Slaves, but it will require an amount of time so we decided to take some advices before. PS. WinCC "sees" s7-400 slave only if checkbox "Routing,..." is set.

If yes I would say, especially as you do not use only DP Functions to use the Busparameter set "Standard". Could you post us the detailed information's about the current set and the really used number of nodes on the Network? Best regards J_Bell

Current settings are following: 17 s7-400 stations 12Mbits Profibus HSA=31 Mode = Dp Master Tslot_Init=1000 Max.Tsdr=800 Min.Tsdr=11 Tset=16 Tqui=9 Gap=10 Retry Limit=4. Resulting Watchdog time = 855 As Options selected following: Include configuration below checkbox DP Master =30 Dp Slaves = 0 Active station with comm. load =30 Share of communication=Medium 3 s7-300 stations Here parametrs are a little different - DP Slave Number of DP Slaves =1 so watchdog is a little different. I figured out, that all CPUs with NO DP mode were removed by newer CPUs. Also i figured out, that all of s7-300 are in fact connected to 2-nd ring, but we get problems on both rings.

Is it possible for you to put all Stations, at least seen form the HW Configuration, into one Project? Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (264)	Yes, you are right - i made full backup from all stations and combined them into 1 network. Bus Parameters changed to 870.8 ms Watch dog (3 slaves were added). But can such a deviation (about 2%) lead to such problems? What parameters must be set to ensure connection quality? Why in ring where no slave exist (so DP parameters set is exact and equal 855 ms) connection problems also appear?
