The two ports (RJ45 and AUI) on the CP443-1 share the same interface. Not sure that you can actually connect both at the same time. Maybe. You should connect to all the relevant devices via a switch.

The answers again:

A1. The CP 443-1 can be used for Open Modbus TCP but not for Modbus RTU (I believe that the sepams use that serial protocol). So if the Sepam is the one I have found on Google then you need the CP 441-2. Because you have to work with 12 Sepams I recommended a CP 441-2 above the (good idea) ET 200S SI.

You are right, it is a subset of Modbus.

The JBUS protocol is identical in all respects but one to the Modbus protocol.
The one difference concerns the parameter or register address.
Both use a numeric index but the JBUS index starts at '0' while the Modbus index starts at '1'.
Modbus registers are numbered from 1 to 65536 (16 bit addressing).
JBUS registers are numbered from 0 to 65535 (16 bit addressing).
A modbus register address 4x00001 is JBUS register address 4x00000.

However, at this stage if I were you I would contact Siemens to talk to someone who knows this Modbus TCP library. They can tell you the prerequisites, and if there may be a potential conflict. As I said before I dont think there is a conflict, but better to be safe than sorry.

By the way. If you go this route I would be interested in the list price for this library. Can you inform that if you get it ?

We purchase a driver block MODBUS from I&S "OPEN MODBUS/TCP
no. 2XV9450-1MB00".
The block supports Modbus function code 3 (read registers) and 16 (write registers).
The block can be used both as client (modbus master) or server (modbus slave).
We use the CP 443-1 (both ISO and TCP/IP), have not noticed any conflicts
and the data through put is high (compared with the serial CP solution).
In case our client only support RTU we could simply add a converter (DIGI ONE 70001777).
