Skiertje Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello, We are looking for a SIL2 encoder to process in our S7-400FH system. We found a model that supports Profisafehttp://www.twk.de/data/pdf/11947fe0.pdf. It also supports distributed safety 5.4 so he is compatible with the S7-300F systems. But we want to know if the encoder is also compatible with a S7 - 400FH system. Has anyone used this encoder or shed some light if an device is compatible with profiSafe it can be used in a 400F system? Regards, Skier

Best solution is to demand the GSD from the manufacturer and project it in STEP7. The recent F-Systems supports "Driver Blocks for INT and DINT". I hope this is going to help you. Safety1 Posts: 73 Rating: (20)	Hello Skiertje, Please also be aware that there is some programming which would need to be done. I believe that TWK has some examples on how to handle the encoder in the safety program for S7300f. The program may need to be altered for use in the 400FH as it is CFC and may not have all the same functions [please check].You need a program because the 300F and 400FHhave 16 bit integers. No double words in the program and therefore you cannot see the entire encoder count. The FH alsosupportsF-REAL data type. Depending on the age of your FH system also look to see if it supports Profisafe V2 mode or V1. This will determine the settings for the slave in Step7 HW manager. See the S7 FH manual ch3.5 Configuring failsafe dp standard slaves. The profisafe time setting is based on the S7Ftimeb.xls.

Skiertje Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello, Thanks for the response. I added the encoder in the hardware configuration, and was looking for the CRC7 parameter but can't find it. I also don't know where to look. In the ProfiSAFE tab I did find a CRC1 - 2 and 3 reference (see attachement) but I don't know if thats enough. Skiertje Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Thanks for the remarks Safety1. The CPU to process the encoder still needs to be bought, so the version won't be a problem. As for the timing that is still something that needs to be determined. I did notice there are no safety DINT. So we need to get the INT data and combine the High INT and Low INT to a REAL. Then we can do our calculations. I checked the safety instruction set in CFC and it looks to me that all the necessary block are available. Regards, Skiertje

Safety1 Posts: 73 Rating: (20)	Hi Skiertje, I do not know what CRC7 refers to. Sorry. Normally the only adjustment you need to make is with F_WD_Time and possibly F_DEST_ADD. The other parameters may need to be changed depending on whether you use Profisafe V1 or V2. V2 is for Profinet. With V2 they made changes to the way the profisafe telegram number was transmitted and therefore in certain applications Hybrid mixture of Profinet and Profibusor possibly the IWLANPB Link you need to change this from V1 to V2. Unfortunately TWK does not use this wording V1 or V2 in the GSD file. Therefore please contact TWK or the manual to determine which parameter is V1 or V2. If you are using a 400H type cpu then you will have V1 mode as they do not support Profinet therefore they do not support V2.

This CRC is required for usage with 400 F/H. It's termed: “F_IO_StructureDescCRC” = CRC7. In accordance to the attached TWK GSD, it seems to be integrated. But we take no guarantee for this. Please ask the manufacturer of the device for reliable information. Please pay also attention to the extract of the manual for some more requirements (in the attachment).
