Hello, this reply might be too late but I hope it helps the next person. 
I found your post when facing a similar problem. I was reading data through modbus and my data block elements had data type Word and this resulted in my values being converted to Hex. On changing the data types to ints my values were “converted” to decimal. 
As mentioned, when you view hex inherently your value is the same in the memory the issue is the displayed results, and in this instance switching to a different data type helped.
