I am trying to code a replacement SCADA in WinCC
The original system modifies the real I/O address of a block of tags according to an internal variable, when a button is pushed.

Here is an example of the code used in the original project. There are 25 Tags per Step, and 40 Steps per process.

"DDE" indicates a Tag mapped to real I/O.
"MEM" indicates an internal Tag.

Can the real I/O address of a WinCC Tag be modified via script in Runtime?

The aim was to replace the existing SCADA with very few changes (or if at allpossible,none whatsoever) to the PLC program, as the customer's Change Control Philosophy is very strict.

I just found the idea of having to code 1000 tags per process a bit daunting, and was looking for a short-cut.

Is there an easy method to convert a value into text?
I've created all my tags longhand, with a numeric suffix representing my Step Number.
The step number is stored as a value, and if I can retrieve it and convert it into text I can append it to a string to create the Tag names I need to address on a case by case basis.

Do you need something like this:

char string[10];

sprintf(string,"%d",GetTagWord("Tag"));

whereby the var string wil contain the tagvalue but then in char.

sprintf (string, "%s_%d", TAG, GetTagWord ("Tagname"));

I've been experimenting, but don't seem to get it right...
