Number of connections with D445

ELfan Posts: 40 Rating: (12)	Does anyone know how many connections the D445 supports. I have tried to find this information in the manuals with no success. My project will have 6 HMI's and will also need a connection for programming.

ZZZ Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Each SIMOTION platform can handle up to 16 ONLINE connections.The engineering system SCOUT can use up to 3 connections dependant on the state (being ONLINE, recording trace, etc.). Each HMI device uses 1 (only variable exchange) or 2 (alarms) connections.The more connections are used the more the communication performance can slow down dependant on the existing runtime load. ZZZ Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Basically SIMOTION does not care who is using the connections.The “5” in the catalog means “guaranteed” by Siemens under the perspective good case not worst case.That means, there is no fixed limit at 5 by the system.Again: communication performance can become a problem, because the SIMOTION multi tasking real time operating systems does not allow influencing the accuracy of motion control or real time programming by asyncronous communication.
