Bypassing Drive Cliq interface

I keep running into Drive Cliq issues and I was wondering, since we do not use the position feedback of the encoder for the process, if it's possible to run the servo without the drive cliq interface, like an induction motor. Is that possible? When I change the DDS to speed control without encoder, I get a dialog box that wants me to check the BICO interconnections... Is it ok to just select factory setting?

There is also a description how to switch between operation with and without encoder.
