MM430 hasn't got internal breaking chopper, if You want to use breaking resistor You must use external chopper too. (connect chopper to the dc link) here You have a link to external chopper with MM440 (i think with MM430 You could do the same) http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22093967
