Hello,

Does anyone know if there are documents that describe when to use safety IO or standard IO?

At the company where I am working now, they also use safety I/O for pushbuttons, selector switches etc. Also for the feedback of contactors safety I/O is used. Is this all necessary?

Is there any document where I can find what kind of I/O I should use for any application?

I hope anybody can find a document like that

I do understand, but nowhere is explained that this safety requirement can be achieved with a safety or a standard input/output.

For example:

The feedback (NC) of a contactor (controlled by a safety output) can be a standard input. Is this right for all safety requirements or is this right for a certain level?

A pushbutton to activate a motor movement (PLC controlled) must that be done with a standard or safety input.

For this kind of questions I can not find a answer.

Can anyone help me with this?

 Maybe it would be best if you participate in a training course about basic safety by Siemens, to get the basic understanding.

Siemens has sote training videos available also in the Sitrain.
