Hello all,

I have a problem when I try to connect to a 1510 PLC. With the memory card inserted, the PLC is not detected. However, when I remove the card, I can find it.

This is the setup I have:

CPU: 6ES7510-1DJ01-0AB0 with firmware V2.8.1 and hardware revision 5

BusAdapter: 6ES7193-6AR00-0AA0

Memory card: 6ES7954-8LE03-0AA0

Server module: 6ES7193-6PA00-0AA0

Things I have already tried:

-Set the switch on the PLC to MRES for a while.

-Use a different patch cable to connect to the PLC.

-Try all 3 ports (the led of the chosen port was green).

-Set the IP address of the adapter on my pc manually in the correct range / let it get an address automatically

-Reset the network parameters.

-Factory reset the PLC.

-Use a new memory card.

The PLC was power cycled after every change. I used PRONETA to scan for the PLC, but always with the same result: it is detected without the memory card, but never with it.

The PLC was working in a test setup before I removed it from there.

Does someone has any other ideas I can try?

-Use a new memory card.

 Was this really a "new" one, or a different on which was already used?

However, I suggest to try following:
- open the SMC with a standard cardreader in windows explorer, but do not format the card!
- delete the file "S7_JOB.SYS" and the folder "SIMATIC.S7S" (no other data, especially no hidden files).

Try this SMC with the CPU again.

Thanks for your replies.

I removed the original packaging from the new memory card, so I am sure it was not used before. 

I deleted the .SYS file and the .S7S folder and the result is a bit different now:

The PLC can only be detected when I use the ports of the BusAdapter, nothing is detected when I use the other port. The PLC is also only detected once after I plug in the cable. If I scan again after the first time, nothing is detected and I have to replug the cable before the PLC shows up again.

I tried to download to it, but then the connection fails.

When the PLC does show up in 'Online Access' in TIA Portal, there is no option to format the memory card. The only functions listed are: 'Assign IP address' & 'Assign Profinet Device name'.

This morning I was able to download to another CPU 1510SP-1PN, with exactly the same equipment I am using now, so this equipment seems to work fine.

Hi Thomas,

Downloading the program to the SIMATIC Memory Card may be helpful in your case. This avoids connection problems for the first download, after that the CPU should be reachable for a regular download via Ethernet.
